About Clinton East

Well, here's a little about me;

• I live in Southbank, Melbourne, Australia. It's a great location with plenty of great places just a short stumble away. I'm originally from Bairnsdale , 300Km east of Melbourne, but moved here at the end of 1998.
• East Gippsland was a great place to grow up; I still visit there from time-to-time since that's where my family is. I'm from a regular kind of family, with sister Renee, and now my brother-in-law Duncan.
• I'm involved with Rotaract , a Rotary-based organization with similar aims but targeted at 18-28s, as well as the Oaktree Foundation . I was previously affiliated with the Voices of the Future (Who were largely responsible for the FReeZA initiative, as well as the establishment of a Youth Centre), however got shunted onto the Honourary member list when I finished high-school and moved away ;)
• I work in commercial scientific research, for a large Australian company. My project work has included;
  • Implementation of a commercial proof of concept for vending & telemetry over GPRS; I chose a Siemens C167CR 16-bit microcontroller for the task; a relatively cheap platform, more than adequate to cope with a simple PPP/IP/UDP stack and rijndael encryption.
  • Implementation of a system for simultaneous comparitive testing of mobile access networks (with emphasis on GSM and CDMA but extensible to newer technologies) The most interesting aspect of this project was the sheer volume of information collected; position, velocity, as well as information right through from the physical, datalink, network and transport.
  • Computational and physical biolectromagnetic work; I'm currently working on a number of projects which relate to radiation in complex media, as required by the relevant Australian human exposure standards. This work is conducted under the auspices of the Australian Centre for RF Bioeffects Research , in conjunction with the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science .
